Volunteering

China has been opening to the world for more than three decades. There are a lot of incredible changes in this country: Economy has developed fast, cities have expanded. However, China is a huge country with nearly 1/4 of the world’s population, and there is still much work to do to make the environment cleaner and life better. Chinese people are happy to have your help. You are welcome to share your knowledge, technique, culture, and story with them. In return, you will gain your unique experience, learn Chinese, enjoy Chinese culture and have fun with people.

EduPeace is glad to be a facilitator of international volunteering. By co-working with NGOs and government, EduPeace helps volunteers to find the most suitable voluntary placement and assists volunteers during their stay in China.

Volunteering

Orphanage Volunteer

Volunteers mainly work with infants and toddlers in a foster care home for the orphans and help in childcare and caregiving work. Volunteers’ role is to make the children’s lives at the orphanage more enjoyable and lend a helping hand to the staff. Besides assisting the staff with the daily chores, volunteers give love and individual attention to each child.

As a volunteer working on this project, you will be asked to help in a wide range of activities at the orphanage depending on the age group of children and the needs of the project.

Volunteers mostly help the staff with necessary care duties during the day, but during certain times when the work is less structured, you can play with the children. Volunteers work for 4-5 hours in a day for five days in a week. The children in the orphanage are infants and toddlers in the age group of 3 months to 6 years.

Our volunteer program is suitable for anyone interested in making a difference in the lives of the disadvantaged children in Beijing.

On the weekends, volunteers are free to travel around Beijing and explore the different night markets and historical museums.

Volunteer in Immigrant Worker School for Children

The project is a primary school for children from poor immigrant families working in Beijing. The school has limited resources and depends a lot on volunteers for support. Due to limited resources, the school authorities cannot afford to employ good English speaking teachers. Volunteers play a crucial role here by Teaching English to the students.

The children in the school being taught English, Chinese, Mathematics, Physical Education and have other activities. The volunteers can teach English, music or paintings in the primary school according to your preference and teaching skills.

The school starts at 8 am in the morning and volunteers can work for around 3-4 hours daily. Volunteers can also work for extended hours if they want.

Volunteering as an English teacher in Beijing will give you a new perspective on this incredible country. As a volunteer, you would get a chance to help in improving the basic vocabulary and language skills of the students. By spending time with the children at school, volunteers share a special bond with the lovely children.

Volunteers working in the Teaching Programme do not need to be a qualified teacher. Volunteers need to be creative, open-minded, teach in fun and playful way and have a desire to help and make a difference to the project.
